New Moon, New You

Hello, lovely readers! I hope your week wasn’t too hard.

Today I want to talk to you about the energy flowing right now, as well as what that means during this lunar cycle. Are you ready? Let’s get started!

As I’m sure you’ve heard, today is the Chinese New Year. Following a lunar calendar, this is the time of year for new beginnings and hopes for prosperity and abundance in the new year. With this celebration, the rooster of the Chinese Zodiac characterizes the year to come. Roosters are an animal of pride, flamboyancy, and strength. If you’re curious about how these animals were ordered in the zodiac–or just enjoy a good legend as much as I do–here’s a TED Ed video I found this morning.

Along with this holiday is yesterday’s New Moon, the first of 2017. Like New Years, the New Moon is the best time to begin new projects. From this point on, as the moon grows larger, momentum kicks up until the Full Moon, the peak of power and creativity. As the moon wanes, it’s time to round out projects and get rid of things that no longer serve you, ending in the New Moon and a new lunar cycle.

With all of this powerful energy, now is a great time to set intentions for this lunar cycle. Whether you want to write a story or prepare for a marathon, this is the time to make your plans. This lunar cycle, I plan to work on a short story for my Fiction class and work on generosity.

So tell me: what do you plan to do with this energy? What are your intentions this cycle? Let me know in the comments.

I’ll post again on Tuesday; hopefully it’ll be short short. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. Blessed Be!
